Its Worked, We’ve Been Transformed

While some of us nicked through our computers at the alarming signs of this cultural transformation by writing on blogs and Facebook; most people took a more moderate stance and calmly continued to eat, drink, and be merry. Their actions serving as  another sign of the great wisdom of Coach Bryant’s “Three Types Of People” axiom.  The axiom declares ; There are three basic types of people: those who can’t see, those who will see but won’t act, and then there are those players who both see and act. Could Coach have gotten this great wisdom from God?

What was that which was being “nicked at” by the writers from only the Conservative viewpoint? It was the dreaded , but promised, Radical Transformation of our nation. It’s purpose; radical transformation of the most powerful and light bearing nation in the history of the planet into something else.  For whatever the reason and means, we wake up today in the awareness of a new milestone of America’s transformation; the passing of the baton of power to another nation. Yesterday, Russia defiantly looked the world leader in the eyes and defiantly smiled at him saying in Russian “Nyet”, meaning No.The heavy lifting for the transformation had been done over the last five decades. Handing over the “baton” was an eminent but long feared event. Undercover ground work for the transformation had been occurring even much earlier as the new Progressive Movement of the early 1900’s spread its tentacles into academia, and the liberal thinkers of America including the religiously liberal.

What was that halcyon sign of the success of the transformation; after all, change in the culture has been occurring for several decades? Sure, change has been occurring for decades but never has the uniform of the leaders been changed right on the field. Neither has the momentum switched sidelines to the extent of that done on this day. Russia has caught the errant field goal attempt and are now returning it to set their place in this new world order

The Spirit Of Domination

TODAY’S SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE – You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever shall be great among you, let him be your minister; and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant  Mathew 20: 25 through 27. Servant hood versus dominion, what a contrast of styles.

I love my schools; Etowah High and Alabama. I feel good when they win and down when they lose.  But, whenever a friendly underdog team comes to town, I feel no joy when they are “dominated”. Being an ex-underdog, I have a soft spot for them. Domination (competitiveness) versus servant hood; that’s a very timely topic for this day. A layman’s definition of competitiveness and its big, fully grown, brother domination could be: “securing for one’s self things that maybe would not come without some manipulation or struggle”. Where else in this world could this be described better than in the “Football Capital of the South”. Competition has turned into near “hate” in some rivalries here. Winning at football is near to, if not above, religion.  And our second claim to fame is  being The Heart of Bible Belt.

My parents may be one of the best examples of contrasting temperament styles.  My dad was extremely assertive, my mother the victim of unavoidable domination as an amiable.  This was not good; I grow to understand the real Jerry and his foundations more and more, even at this late date.  I have a dual faceted temperament bent; half assertive and half amiable. This has allowed me to be assertive in business and career but tenderhearted with the “little ones”. Prior to my conversion to Christ, about the only times I desired “domination” were times such as my head coaching job at Hale County where our big rival destroyed us my first year by a margin of 40 to 0.  In my second year I told the players before going onto the field;: “We’re going to smite them on one cheek and then smite them on the other”.  We won that year by a margin of 50 to 6. I saw times when even domination was okay; those were times for retaliation. Even Jesus and God occasionally indulged in this.

CNN, Fox News; oh how each of these pain me.  The political left and the Tea Party; oh how they also pain me. James Carville, Rush Limbaugh; Bill O’Reilly; these guys cause me to tighten up. I actually am an independent thinker who is primarily influenced now by the Bible but living in a day of “self actualization “.  Self actualization in really is, ‘let me have what I want when I want it”. The same state as those ladies of Israel who declared that they would continue to worship the Queen of Heaven rather than God. When we worshipped her we had all things.

How far am I away from the mainstream of this day; possibly 180 degrees away. My heart is the heart of compromise and reconciliation living in a culture of control and domination. That assessment of the real me will raise some eyebrows from those who only know me as a writer. They never saw the Jerry with nine little Black kids in his car on their way to school. This two sided image can be explained best by the example of Jesus Christ, A bruised reed shall he not break, a smoking flax shall he not quench  Isaiah 42: 3 para. How is that so Jerry; wasn’t Jesus Christ (one who would not bruise a reed) the most controversial and divisive person of all times? Yes, that’s true “but”.

But it shall not be so among you Mathew 20: 26.  It will not be so among those of us who have yielded our old temperament styles to Christ. There are overly assertive Christians just as there overly amiable Christians.  The ones who are in Christian balance will be lovingly tender but boldly determined to carry out our mission in this world.  As a coach, one must be at least somewhat assertive; just as Christ was assertive with the money changers. Our basic heart style however will be gentle, redeeming, and compromising; where compromise is nor contrary to our calling in Christ.

Salvation’s Two Parts

TODAY’S SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE:  Our last posting pointed out the two separate parts to salvation from God, repentance and faith. Some Christians may proceed through these simultaneously but most do not. Today’s post will take this a few degrees farther. And he ( Paul ) said unto them, “Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed” Acts 19: 1. That question from Paul may be the most important line from the Epistles. It’s certainly the hallmark of my ministry. I know that I’ve received this Holy Ghost. My answer to Paul would be; “Yes, something supernatural has occurred in my life”.

Why was Paul so bold and direct to the point of asking this question at the very outset of his visit to Ephesus?  Because the Holy Ghost is the very object of Jesus death upon the cross and their very “Eternal Lives” depended upon the reception of this Holy Ghost.  The reception of the Holy Ghost is the only sign of their successful conversion; having a prayer language or tongues is not “the” evidence of the Holy Ghost. Nothing is as important as the reception of the Holy Ghost but yet so mis-interpreted. Possibly as early as King Constantine”s forced baptism of his army ( 312 AD ) have failed conversions weakened the Christian church. Did Paul expect that those converts at Ephesus would have an accurate answer? He certainly did because he had received this same Holy Ghost and he knew that its manifestations  cannot be missed. We can’t miss them even today.

More explanation may be necessary on the matter of “The Sign” of reception of the Holy Ghost.  My own example will be the best way to explain it. In the football coaching profession it would called a “coaching clinic” example; the three aspects were almost “film quality” and “coaching point” quality.  I entered into genuine Christian “repentance” on June 2nd 1987 in the coffee shop of the Holy Name Of Jesus Hospital. In early November of that year, I was “saved” when I came into full faith at Emmaus Walk #52 at Camp Sumatanga.  In the following February of 1988, I received my “prayer Language”. Receiving a prayer language comes to some believers but not to all; “all” true believers receive “power” to witness Jesus. The sign of the reception of the Holy Ghost was the power and motivation to serve this awesome God with all of my heart, mind, and soul.

In the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word is established Mathew 18: 16. For a second witness to the validity of a two part conversion process which results in the reception of the Holy Ghost, let’s look back to Acts 18:24 through 28, the story of Apollos. This man knowing “only” the baptism of John. Aquila and Priscilla expounded unto Apollos the way of God more perfectly. God and the Bible are so great in that those with eager and receptive hearing ears and seeing eyes have no lack of creditable witness. He will not allow us to be orphans, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have spoken to you John 14: 26.

The response of the converts at Ephesus revealed that they had not so much as heard that there was any Holy Ghost. This response could be the response of modern church people today who are kept ignorant of the very seed of Eternal Life. Paul then asked a vital question; “To what then were you baptized into”?  Paul knew that there are two separate elements required by God for receiving the promised Holy Ghost. The first of the two is “repentance”, the baptism that they admitted receiving. Paul told them that the baptism of repentance was “John’s Baptism”, they must also be baptized into the baptism of Jesus, which is the baptism of faith, the second part.

The above scenario is the complete process that all true believers will follow. The failure to follow through on either of the two will mean failure to receive the promised Holy Ghost and will not yield one’s salvation. This next statement is strictly a Jerry original, I’ve never seen it written or spoken before.  My belief is that the most serious problem of today’s church is at the point of “repentance”, not the message of faith and the cross. It’s just much easier to preach a Jesus dying for our sins than to preach that we must be willing to depart from this great life here in this culture. The very most bottom-line determinant of our true conversion is; “Were we truly ready to give up our old life and take on the life of Jesus”. God is able to know of our heart”s sincerity, or the lack thereof. The evidence of heart sincerity is an affirmative  answer to Paul’s question;  “Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed”.

He Was At Work In Me

TODAY’S SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE:  For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to do His good pleasure Philippians 2: 13. Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working  whereby He is able even to subdue all things to himself Philippians 3: 21.

The very biggest obstacle that I faced as a non-believer was understanding “just how could He do it”. I was a tactile style learner; I understood best when I could hold it in my hands. I couldn’t see how God worked. Faith to me was what I could see, hold, and handle. I understand this now, my challenge today is to explain how God works to my readers. I’m going all the way here today, how the mechanics of God work. Brass and boldness, I told you that I have at least half my temperament in the assertive category. If I can’t go all the way into the actual workings of miracles ( and I can’t ); I feel confident I can shed a great amount of light upon how He communicates.

Most great writers lead into their stories and build to a climax?  We’ll, I’m no ordinary writer and certainly not a great one. I’m going to reveal how the mechanics work before introducing the instrument.  I remember once while partying drunk with other drunks, I made the statement; “There is no God”. A very few years later I said to a God who I had come to at least believe in; “God I know you are my answer, will you come in and be that answer in me”.

My “believing in” at that point was not re -birth however. What had happened between these two times? The first thing was that I saw evidence of a very real God in the changed life of my father. He didn’t suddenly become nicer; he became radically changed  from the heart out. The second thing was that my personal conditions worsened while his had gotten amazingly better.

I’ve just described the soil conditioning aspect that rendered me  able to truly enter into “repentance”.  Repentance is the beginning step, not re-birth. The soil conditioning stage leading to repentance must culminate in a “decision”. This total process requires two decisions and this was the first. Repentance was finalized as I received an impulse including images of a cartoon type caption proclaiming; ” it’s  God who made my father’s life different than mine”. The process and mechanism of this was spirit to spirit telepathy.

We can move more rapidly now since the mechanism and process has been introduced. That first stage (repentance) works exactly the same way as the saving step, faith in a literal Christ who was God’s means to activate the redemption of man to Himself.. How many of us believe in mental telepathy, how about premonitions, hunches,  how about seeing dreams and visions. Even the non-believing Progressives believe in Karma. We’ll have to stop at this point if no one believes in those things. These all work by electronic type impulses playing on the screens of our minds. It happens however that God’s images play upon the screen of  our hearts ( spirits ) .

THIS IS IMPORTANT. The most common reason that people fail to connect with God’s Holy Spirit, and fail to be fully saved, is their stopping at one or the other of these steps and thinking that all has been accomplished. One step salvations work well at church services, but with God both are necessary.

Alcohol was no type conductor of God’s impulses but seeing a miraculously saved father certainly was. After that first repentance stage, God provided another image for me to dwell upon. At my Emmaus Walk four months after repentance, God provided an image of Jesus Christ dying upon a cross for Jerry’s sin. This image was accepted and internalized and twenty six years later still resounds to life rather than death.

Coach Made Me Do It

TODAY’S SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE:  Where the rubber meets the road; who or what do we trust? “Above all, to thine own self be true”, William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. We dance with the one who brung us, colloquial. Love the Lord your God with all your heart mind and strength, God.

Is there any connection  and correlation between our loves and loyalties to our actions and behaviors. In simpler words; are we who we desire to be.. Honesty is being  he who he claims to be. If our heart desires chasing wine women and song, chase your heart. By chasing; we’ll be honestly chasing our hearts desires. If we’re dishonest to our hearts desires, there will be all sorts of deviations.  Christianity without the Holy Spirit is perhaps the greatest example of this; their Christianity will never measure up.  There is no “Christian Duh” so intellectually dull as to not know that a false witness of Jesus Christ doesn’t line up with things in the New Testament. Their internal witness will be; “Where is all that power we’re supposed to have”.

On June 2nd 1987 Jerry Glover finally came to the place of aligning himself to God; above all else, to thine own self be true. Acting, game playing, and impersonation had finally played their final hand and truth to one’s Truest and Highest would begin its reign. Choosing the highest possible truth was at a premium at this time.

A long remembered and deeply engrained axiom from Coach Bryant came up; “Don’t do it the easy way, do it the right way”.  When honesty is our choice and performance of one’s purpose is at risk, what type actions and pursuits do we follow?  When faced with this; there was only one pathway; the pathway of full speed ahead with integrity and honesty. Why was that my choice?  I suppose that my temperament style, in a pinch of this type, coincided best with my assertive side (the side inherited from my father). The second reason was that my greatest role model was Coach Bryant, a man of stratightforwardness with honesty and integrity. He wasn’t “right” all of the time, but he was himself all of the time attempting to ” do it the right way”.

Jerry, being a former deceiver of the first order whose chief goal was to be accepted and respected;  how can you bear walking so out of touch with current trends and norms? That’s simple, the Holy Spirit now gave me a new love and a new power to follow my role models of my dad, Coach Bryant, and Jesus Christ. Isn’t it amazing that none of these worried about current norms and trends.  Neither of these we’re politically, religiously, or socially correct. In fact, they followed their own path and whoever wished to follow, followed. At Alabama, our uniforms were simple, we had few worldly trinkets other than very sound technique, strong motivation, and character of operation. We stayed, while in Miami for three Orange Bowls, at a smallish hotel.

What is the message Jerry? Being true to yourself and choosing the right self to be true to is critical. There are choices you know. For me however, God narrowed my choices down to two, life or death. Life is full of choices and full of operational pursuits of our models. Our best shot, and this is big, is to line ourselves up with the highest truth known and be true to that truth  in the most straightforward way. Holding back is a form of deception and compromise to being one’ best and truest.

Jesus: Water of Life

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come….” (Revelation 22:17)

Our Infrastructure Is In Serious Trouble

TODAY’S SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE:  as for the word that thou hast spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken unto thee. Words back to Jeremiah by the stiff necked Jews living outside Israel after times when Jerusalem had been laid bare by God because of its evil. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil Jeremiah 44: 17, 18. This is the attitude of wickedness right before judgement.

Just as America’s infrastructure is in trouble; so is out position of blessing and protection by God.  Between 1935 and 1970 a huge percentage of our National infrastructure was built.  Fifty percent of our nations bridges have a life expectancy of less than ten years remaining.Yet today, comparatively speaking, we spend 80% less on infrastructure than we did fifty years ago.  Infrastructure with God is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is our propelling force to move on with God.  Spiritual gifts are a part of that Holy Spirit package, but so is humility and contriteness. Faith without the Holy Spirit is dead religion.

Mr. President,  upon what qualities were you elected twice. Kim Kardashian, how is it that a practicing whore has social acceptance?  Dead (non-spiritual) religion, you had your day and this is what you produced.  We can’t blame the Progressives, or the President, or Kim; they are mere manifestations of who”we” are. How did we fall from the place of being the greatest nation and one who was blessed by God to this evil state. While dead religion was a key factor; it was only the instrument of delivery. The bottom line cause of our condition is “Us”; we willing allowed this in the exact same way as cultures of the past.. We are the same human kind who Jeremiah spoke of when the Jews were burning incense to the Queen of Heaven.

In blaming us; there is of course that thread (both now and in the past) of true believers who hold to the truth of God in boldness.  We however are in exactly the same state as was Jeremiah; stiff necked and rebellious people “will not” hear.  What is their bottom line reason for not listening to the truth of God through humble contrite hearts? The answers are in Jeremiah 44: 17; their pride (rebellion) to do whatever they spoke and their greed for plenty of stuff. These temptations fought away any inclination towards humility and contriteness.

The President was chosen as the example by me because he is the image of that Jewish woman looking God in the face and challenging Him; he is the symbol of an Anti-Christ.  I use Kim because she is the great sensual whore in the order of Jezebel. How evil is the President, Valerie Jarred, Axelrod, Eric Holder, Emanuel; so evil that all that spews from their mouths is evil and lies that cover up evil.  How wicked is Jezebel (Kim) who openly flaunts and becomes wealthy by her sexual perversity. Where is the challenge to all of these workers of evil?  I see more challenge from “the little ones” on Facebook than I do from our religious leaders.  Malachi chapter one is directed to the priests in another day of evil; I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of Hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand  Malachi 1: 10 selected.

All needed points have been made with the exception of these two.  I use the term “Mr President” as a precaution against computer terror in high places. I don’t recommend anyone checking this out but if there is any doubt that Kim isn’t Jezebel, ample  in full color evidence can be found by anyone with their computer by entering Kim Kardashian nude photos. Trust me; I was innocent of the knowledge about this until I saw on Pawn Stars the first Playboy with Marilyn Monroe nude. I said; “If that is so easily available, who else is.  Kim’s name came to mind immediately. The day where a well known and wealthy celebrity flaunts giving oral sex is a day too far. In my case, I confess to being too far separated from today’s reality. In my wildest thoughts I would never have thought these things. Even the things about the President.

What time is it?  It’s time when we do “first things first”. The first thing in my view is “Me” and I don’t mean the religious Me.

Every One Which “Seeth” The Son

TODAY’S SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE: And this is the will of him which sent me, that every one which seeth the son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life  John 6: 40. Seeing him and believing on him are inseparably tied. Seeing Jesus is the “difference” between everlasting life and ordinary religion.  Seeing Jesus is far more than even answering the call to repent.  Seeing Jesus requires spiritually seeing eyes and the call of God.  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me: and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out John 6: 37.

THE SAVING CONTINUUM;  1.  Repentance  2 Seeing Jesus by Faith  3 Receive the Holy Ghost  4 Everlasting life

June 2 1987- Holy Name Of Jesus Hospital Gadsden Alabama; Jerry Glover responds to God’s call to repent of his old sinful life and come to God.

November 1987- Camp Sumatanga Alabama; Jerry Glover’s spiritual eyes are opened to see Jesus Christ at Walk 52 of Walk to Emmaus.

What were those converts at Ephesus lacking that caused them to be asked by Paul; “Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed”. Paul needed to know if they had received God’s everlasting life  John 6: 40. What we need and must have is”everlasting life”.  Today I’m not going over to being theological but staying with practical realism; what I needed at that Hospital was a new life; one that could relieve me of my burdens and one that would last.  Only part of my burdens were lifted there in the hospital.  Alcoholism and depression had to go for any future blessings to come in.  There was even a degree of peace that walked with me to my fathers room and later to my car.  None of these things however had the capacity to taking me into everlasting life. It was “seeing” Jesus Christ with wide open spiritual eyes that was the only source powerful enough to carry Jerry through into everlasting life. Jesus Christ crucified and true faith were modeled.

That seeing of Jesus has provided the power and motivation for an almost complete life change. I use almost because I yet have some changes to work on.  This seeing of Jesus has truly resulted in a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new II Corinthians 5: 17  selected.  How does one enter life as a new creature?  My old things were not all instantly removed but there was a new power  at work reminding me and goading me on towards the reality of all things becoming new. I just couldn’t deny and intentionally hurt my savior. Jerry; why do you write and say things such as that? Don’t you know that it causes you trouble in this world.  Yes; how well I know that. I am actually “an alien and a stranger” here in this world and being an alien is sometimes a difficult position. In the outside world I do okay; it’s at church where trouble enters in. And I was asked; “What are those wounds on your hands”. I was wounded in the house of my friend  Zechariah 13: 16.

God’s Answer to “Things Just Go South” – Went South

TODAY’S SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE:  God doesn’t usually call someone out to do general works.The principle for this is, And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, healings, helps, governments, and diversities of tongues  I Corinthians 12: 28.  Nothing is mentioned there as being ordinary “general Christian work”. We’re just not ordinary; we’re all given gifts from God.

Here’s a brief statement upon why God  “KOed” my thoughts of doing a general type book about “Life Going South”. It is true that life in general here in this nation is going south; even California is distressed.  In the old days, South was considered to be inferior to North  (geographically speaking).  One would conclude from the flight South that things are no linger superior up North but are better down South.  I’ve known that forever but my fear is that this flight South may spoil a good thing.  Let’s get on point now.  Prior to my being saved by God , I was deeply down South and near to going over the border. My life made a miraculous turn for the good when changed; this change was so radical and lasted so long that it seems that God must have a bigger purpose in it than just one life.  Remember, God’s gifts are not “general gifts” but rather “specific”. God turned my entire direction upward (which could be called Northerly). CNN, Fox, NBC, and the elite liberal media do a great job of painting the general or specifics of life here on the downturn; Christians are headed North.  I agree with the media’s assessment of this world,  but as Christian we are not of that world.

Life up North is not without its difficulties. I can give some graphic examples; things up there are just more complex and difficult.  Even checking into the hotels or ordering at a restaurant aren’t easily done.  Things up North regarding my calling in Christ are likewise more difficult.  General ministry (if there was one) seems so simple; just pass out some tracks or go serve meals to the homeless. My calling is much more complicated than that.  There are people doing those things and that’s their calling; my calling is much less acceptable to the populace than that.  My calling even creates Southerly type problems for me in church.  To the extent that I’ve finally learned that I do my thing in print, not in church. There is great need for the things that I say but church people are about the most difficult of people to communicate with.  A little knowledge is dangerous.

No new book is on the horizon. Actually, my editor buddy and I did plow into such a book right before 31 Days. It ran aground at somewhere near 20.000 words.  God ordered me to go North.

Things Just Go South

THIS IS A TEST;  One of our sons at age 2 or so kept going around saying; “This is  a test, this is just a test”.  He had been hearing the TV announcer of the old CONOLRAD  Civil Defense warning system.  I’m taking the literary liberty to do a test of my own here today to determine if God is behind this strong unction within me to write another book. This would be titled something on the order of “Things Going South”. I’d need a great editor and I know who she is. I’d likewise need a great publicist and I know her as well.

Being a lifelong Southerner (and proud of it), I’m not one however who does not understand the connotations that most people imply when using the word “South”.  Here’s the best example; things went South after this or that. There seems to me to be much distinction between the higher qualities of things Northern than things Southern.  Well, that’s not exactly my point here although there is one connection; things that are better as opposed to things that are worse.  Let me make my powerful voice heard on this matter of personal perception and then we’ll move on; beauty (or higher quality) is  in the eye of the beholder.  Being the forty year husband of a Pennsylvania Italian and a nationwide traveling sales director and entrepreneur; when I get on a plane or in a car heading South, I’m in a hurry to get home to some turnip greens and grits and fellowship with people who talk like me and think like me.

That’s enough introduction; what I’m attempting to do here is a test to see if God is actually behind my interest in this topic. In past books; God met me on the very first day with hands that excitedly hit the right keys and words that flowed easily.  The term “Going South”, as it is implied in that saying, means that conditions have deteriorated and are less than optimal.  I can understand why the term was first used; living down here in Dixie before air conditioning and during the Civil Rights era was certainly challenging. The tag as being “Racist” is a lingering one. In fact those problems have not been totally solved; especially the Civil Rights thing.

 What the book, if it were to be written, would emphasize is the total picture of things going South. Our entire nation has gone South:  in its economy, its societal cohesion, it’s morals and character, and the general sense of well being. The most serious condition of Southerly direction is the importance and application upon daily life of Christianity.  I’m guilty of being one of the boldest of Christian writers but in this book there is little to no room for classification and grouping.

This would not be a book  from a prophetic viewpoint; it would be from that of one who has experienced this dramatic change in living color. One who watched Howdy Doody in black and white, and even listened to the Lone Ranger and Jack Benny on radio. It would attempt to follow the message of Dragnet’s Lieutenant Joe Friday to that overly talkative lady; “Just the facts ma’am, just the facts”. Emphasis would be placed upon the actual facts of the change and less upon speculation of their cause.

It was my lot in life to also be near or at the scenes of some terrible events of the Civil Rights struggle. I’ve walked through KKK picket lines and seen Blacks standing on dark street corners after bombings in Birmingham, I was there when the Alabama Militia attempted to stop Black students from entering the U Of A. I knew George Wallace; he even called me by phone once. Not so close contact (by being here in the South) but closely observing the dramatic events of the Vietnam War demonstrations.

What happened to those great dreams (I had a dream)  of Martin Luther King, what happened to the great USA, what happened to the great unity of our citizenry, what happened to the influence of God. What is the truth of Murphy’s Law; “Things that can go wrong, will go wrong”. From my perspective today; there were many things that could go wrong and they have traveled South.

Is this possibly a book; one that might sell.  I have no interest in writing one that does not sell.
